Friday, Phil Wekenmann, Ingersoll Rand Mocksville operations manager, showcased Ingersoll Rand’s Machinist Training program to U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, U.S. Department of Labor Secretary Hilda Solis, Senator Kay Hagan and Second Lady, Dr. Jill Biden during a tour of the Advanced Manufacturing Lab at Davidson County Community College.

Davidson County Community College in Thomasville, North Carolina marked the last stop on Vice President Biden’s Community College to Career tour, highlighting the importance community colleges have on preparing America’s workforce for success.

In March of 2011, Ingersoll Rand announced a partnership to provide advanced manufacturing training for employees with Davidson County Community College.  Nearly 30 Ingersoll Rand employees will graduate this spring with an Advanced Manufacturing Certification after completing a rigorous program with both on- and off-site classroom and hands-on learning experiences.

“The Machinist Training program offers graduates practical, transferrable skills that can be put to use immediately making both Ingersoll Rand and our community stronger,” said Wekenmann.
