The Break In process is now completed at the manufacturing plant. As the unit is built, it is run to test its operation and to break in the pump.

Ingersoll Rand recommends that you remove your reciprocating air compressor unit from the shipping skid before installation. A permanent and secure installation requires bolting the unit to a firm and level foundation (such as a concrete floor).

The main difference between reciprocating and rotary air compressors is how the air is compressed. Reciprocating air compressors use pistons pumping up and down to compress the air within the cylinder chamber of the pump. Reciprocating units are best suited for commercial businesses, workshops, home use, construction sites, etc. (See figure A)

A rotary air compressor (or screw unit) uses a set of spinning, helical screws to compress the air and pressurize it. Rotary units are designed to provide constant air and are best suited for industrial and commercial applications. They do run cooler and quieter than reciprocating compressors and have fewer moving parts. (See figure B)

We recommend you drain your tank daily, whether it is manually or automatically.

The electrical wiring between the power supply and electric motor varies according to motor horsepower and other factors. Install adequately sized power leads to protect against excessive voltage drop during start-up. Refer to the National Electric Code (NEC) for information on selecting proper wire size and securing electrical connections.

The reciprocating air compressor models powered by an electrical motor are typically designed to be installed and used in a clean and dry, indoor environment.
